Meert

Paluu takaisin luennoille ja arkiseen aherrukseen on ollut hieman vaikeaa. Sosiaalinen elämäni on lomalla vietetyn hiljaiselon jälkeen saanut uutta potkua, eikä kahden parhaan lukioaikaisen ystäväni Lillen-vierailu ainakaan hillinnyt tahtia. Elokuvia, lasillisia, illallisia, bileitä, taidenäyttelyiden avajaisia... Tänään vietän koti-iltaa ensimmäistä kertaa viikkoon. Siksi siis hiljaiselo blogin puolella.

Going back to the classes and taking up my old routines has been hard. The volume of my social life has exploded after the peacefulness of the holidays, and receiving two of my dearest high school friends to Lille has by no means lowered the speed. Movies, dinners, parties, gallery openings... Today I'm spending the first evening at home for a week. Hence no blog posts until now.

Olin tietenkin erittäin ilahtunut rakkaiden ystävieni vierailusta. Vaikka ranskalaiset ystäväni ovatkin hurmaavia, ei mikään vedä vertoja sille, että pääsee viettämään aikaa sellaisten ihmisten kanssa, joiden kanssa on jakanut kaikki elämän ilot ja surut jo lähes vuosikymmenen ajan. Ystävyytemme alkoi aikanaan Mikkelissä Ramin konditorian kahvin ja leivosten äärellä ja jatkuu edelleen... kahvin ja leivosten äärellä Meertin teesalongissa.

I was of course delighted by my friends coming to visit. However charming my French friends are, nothing can compare to having the possibility to spend time with people you've shared all life's joys and woes with for almost a decade. Our friendship once started over coffee and pastries in "Ramin konditoria" in Mikkeli, and it still goes on... over coffee and pastries at the tea salon of Meert.

En ollut ennen käynyt Meertin konditorian kahvilapuolella, joten en ollut osannut pukeutua aivan paikan henkeen sopivasti. Onneksi meidät päästettiin sisään homssuisesta olemuksestani huolimatta (ystäväni olivat sentään tyylikkäitä, kuten aina). Palvelu oli ystävällistä ja salonki henkeäsalpaavan kaunis, joten annoimme anteeksi sen, että kaikki oli erittäin kallista. Jollainhan se kristallikruunujen kiillotus täytyy rahoittaa.

I had never been to the tea salon of the patisserie, so I wasn't really dressed up for it. Fortunately they let us in despite my worn out appearance (my friends were very stylish as always). The service was good and the beauty of the salon takes your breath away, so we decided to forgive how expensive everything was. After all, someone has to pay for the polishing the chandeliers.
